You Cannot But These Essentials At Costco Anymore – Here’s The Full List

Kirkland Signature Frozen Four Cheese Ravioli

As some of its lovers claimed, these small packs loaded with cheese are an excellent alternative to dinner. The buyers at Costco adored this edible, and they felt like dining at an Italian restaurant.

However, the company had some other plans. They discarded their bestseller from their shelves without intimation or a replacement, leaving the foodies in shock. The taste of these ravioli was as good as a cheesy pasta, but this pasta was not in for a long time. Hence, it disappeared. Like many other items, this too has many signed a petition that remains ignored by the company.

Polish Dog

To simplify their menu and bring in healthier options, Costco has discontinued their bestseller Polish Dog. However, this step enraged the regular customers, and they took a stand of boycotting Costco. However, Costco was adamant about the decision and released another statement saying they had even better options on the list.

The enraged people went on to the extent of saving polish dogs using the social media platform Twitter. A hashtag trended on Twitter saying, #SaveThePolishDog. But these efforts were useless as they ultimately discontinued, and other eateries started offering a substitute yet failed miserably.

Kirkland Signature Light Beer

Costco stopped selling the Kirkland Signature Light Beer in 2018 that costs $0.50 a can. This decision was taken as the taste of this beer was not liked by most of the people, and they disgraced it to the next level. The taste of the beer was compared to a urine-soaked diaper and battery acid. As Costco believes in quality, they decided to remove it from their shelves immediately.

Due to a low amount of alcohol, it ranked in a poor position of beer and was also harming the company’s reputation. The negative word of mouth caught attention when a man reviewed it in his backyard.

All American Chocolate Cake

The headlines that Costco makes usually contain an item disappearing from the store or making a triumphant comeback. Here, the latter seems to be the case as the mini version of All American Cake is here.

It all started when Costco discontinued its delicious cake and had no proper reasoning for its decision. This made their customers angry, and they signed the petition in the quest to bring their favorite cake back. The petition was signed by more than 7200 people compelling the bakery to release a mini version of the cake. The new mini version is sized like a muffin and is being loved by consumers.

Hand-Dipped Ice-Cream Bars

The real reason for discontinuing this delicious and very affordable ice cream bar was never apparent. But a news source reported that rising food costs for dairy and almonds could be the reason why they discontinued this delightful ice cream. Another reason could be that the company was not yielding enough profits from the item.

The ice cream had an amalgamation of chocolate and vanilla with almonds sprinkled on top. The company later replaced this ice cream with Kirkland brand bars that also got immensely popular. These new bars put to rest the cravings that the consumers had for their formerly loved ice cream.

RoundUp

RoundUp was a viral weed killer by Costco. But the item became highly controversial when a couple, Alva and Alberta, filed a complaint against the company, stating that the product causes chronic illness. Later, these aware consumers were awarded by the court and the company because their claims were correct. This case had the potential to damage the reputation of Costco, so with immediate effect, they discarded the sale of the product.

The company never came back with such a product, and for that matter, no substitute was available at Costco as they believe in quality, not quantity, and the public is at risk.

BBQ Beef Brisket Sandwich

The flagship sandwich of the company, the BBQ beef brisket sandwich, was trendy and, according to their customers, was the best thing on their menu. However, Costco stopped selling this sandwich without giving a statement or reason. The sandwich was already limited and was not available at all Costco stores.

The company brought back the sandwich with a twist. Costco replaced this unique, yummy, and saucy beef barbeque sandwich with a cup of chili, which was not liked at all, and got a complete thumbs down from the consumers. As of now, people are missing their favorite sandwich and are hoping for its grand return.

Chocolate Frozen Yogurt

Another staple item from Costco, the Chocolate Frozen Yogurt, also got abandoned by the company. The reason was that the company was going healthier, and sticking to healthier food options will yield them profits. However, this was not the case with this flavourful yogurt. A petition was signed to bring back this thick creamy dessert on the shelves, and it seems like the company’s heart was more frozen than the yogurt, and they declined the petition.

A new substitute was introduced to replace the item, and it was an acai banana chips bowl with blueberries and strawberries slices. This did not impress the Americans, and they still craved yogurt.

Kirkland Signature Turkey Burgers

The consumers thought Costco could replace unhealthy items from their menu, but they could not remove a healthy snack. The company proved them wrong once their favorite Kirkland Signature Turkey Burgers were removed from the shelves. The snack had only 200- calories per patty, was also low in fat and carbs, and not only this, each cake had 35 gms of protein. But Costco had some other plans, and they pulled it back.

Another substitute was kept in their freezers but could not impress the buyers as it was incomparable with the original burger with its melting cheese inside.

Kirkland Signature American Cheese

Who removes cheese from their shelves? Well, it’s Costco. They can do anything. Not long ago when the company decided to stop the production of the Kirkland Signature American Cheese. One packet had 120 slices and came in many flavors. This easy-to-melt cheese was the best accompaniment for grilled chicken burgers.

There was no reason for it to disappear as it came in no individual packing preventing the plastic taste; it was supremely affordable and delicious that won’t last in the refrigerator for long. There are many cheese options in Costco, but this one is a major miss. Let us wait for the company to bring it back.

Fresh Made Gelato

The freshly made Gelato was discontinued a long time back, and only members who have a long association with the company know its worth. The dessert came in three flavors: mixed berry, pistachio, and stracciatella, and the latter were the best amongst them. Vanilla and coco chips add ons were also available.

To make this item more irresistible, Costco charged only $1.50 for three scoops of the flavor of your choice served in a crunchy waffle cone. A petition was signed to bring it back; , the company ignored it as it has gotten used to ignoring customer petitions and keeps on moving ahead.

Kirkland Signature 5 Pocket Jeans

Apart from their experiments in the culinary department, Costco also launched a clothing line in 2016. They introduced jeans with five pockets designed for men, and the people loved them for their dope style and great fabric. Later the apparel was reintroduced, but this time everything deteriorated, from its quality to its design. People also complained about a lousy material making the jeans, and their colors faded after a wash.

The jeans that shared its concept from cargo pants were immediately pulled back from the store as the rise in complaints could have harmed their long-built reputation.

Cuddle with Me Dolls

These dolls were considered racially offensive as they were designed for three different races Caucasian, African- American, and Hispanic. Racial discrimination is one such thing that blacks have been dealing with for a long time. Dolls like these are highly insensitive, and a plush monkey attached to it further worsened the controversy.

The sale of these dolls was stopped in 2009 after a complaint was filed against the company. This complaint was about the color of the doll and what small kids would perceive from this toy. Also, the reason behind attaching a monkey was asked. The company had no logical reasoning, and they stopped its production and apologized.

Kirkland Signature Performance One Golf Balls

Costco seems to have experimented with almost everything. After food, clothing, and stuffed toys, they also made sports products. They also decided to impress a niche of golf players by presenting golf balls they claimed were perfect for playing the luxurious sport. Now avid golf players decked up outside the store and bought the balls in infinite numbers.

The sales were pretty decent until Costco decided to improvise the product a little bit, and once they did that. The change in quality was noticeable. In the quest to cut the cost of production, Costco chose to use bad quality, and the sales dropped, leading them to discontinue the white balls.

Threatened Seafood

Costco came under the radar of several environmental groups for selling seafood that included endangered species. And once they directly questioned the company, Costco introduced a new business policy to do a sustainable business and protect the endangered plants and animals.

Now the company has ties with sources that are certified and do not harm the sea world. The company’s fish pulled from the display are Atlantic cod, Atlantic halibut, Chilean sea bass, grouper, monkfish, redfish, swordfish, and bluefin tuna. The huge controversy was prevented after the company took immediate actions against their mistake. People miss their favorite seafood, but it is all done for good.

Chaokoh Coconut Milk

Costco stopped selling the Chaokoh Coconut Milk after PETA accused its Thailand-based manufacturer of using forced monkey labor. The animal rights group found in their investigations that cruelty was being done to monkeys. The animals were being forced to pick coconuts and were kept chained and caged. To prevent the monkeys from being rebellious, their teeth were pulled out.

Immediately after the incident caught public attention, Costco broke all ties with the Asian company. They also removed all the milk cans from their shelves. However, a statement by the company was never released, and Costco managed to brush it all under the carpet.

Eggs from Caged Chickens

Another case when Costco was questioned emerged when they started selling eggs from caged hens. This was considered animal cruelty as the animals have refrained in a given area, limiting their freedom. After the seafood and coconut milk controversy Costco was in no mood to infuriate PETA or other animal rights organizations.

So this time, Costco released a statement that they will only sell eggs that come from cage-free hens. Recently, the company filled up its shelves with Kirkland Signature Organic large brown eggs that are organic and cruelty-free. They believe that if chickens live a happy life, they lay healthier eggs.

Costco Cookbooks

Just like precious stones, save your Costco cookbooks in treasures as they are in no mood to come back to the stores. The cookbook that stopped selling at the Costco stores is still unknown, and only assumptions can be made that the company might have lost ties with the publication.

Costco made sure that they kept the recipes easy to make and helped all the amateurs learn the art of cooking. The books stopped printing in 2015. You may find some of the recipes in Costco magazines but do not expect the entire cookbook to return. And if you have one, keep it safe.

Kirkland Signature Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

Despite having good reviews and a great fan base, Costco decided to discontinue Kirkland Signature Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups for some reason. A customer who bought the item from Amazon reviewed it and said that the cups have the right amount of cream, chocolate, and peanut butter taste which was mouth-watering. But it seems that the company doesn’t like good reviews. Just kidding!

Costco pulled back the product, and no substitute was kept on offer. The customers were left disheartened, but at the same time, they knew that Costco is known for doing this all the time. No traces of the product can be seen in their store and on their website.

Palmetto Cheese

After the owner of the Palmetto Cheese, Brian Henry, attacked a protest group on social media that involved comments on racial discrimination, Costco decided to break all ties with the manufacturer leading to palmetto cheese getting discontinued. The statements made by Henry received a lot of backlash on social media, and he was openly called out.

The product is currently on and off as Henry claims that the product will come back to the stores shortly, but Costco remains adamant that they won’t fill up their shelves with the same. Amidst all this, the foodies wait for their favorite edible to come back as soon as possible.
