What It Was Really Like To Live Through The ‘Spanish Flu’ Pandemic In 1918-1919
Kansas was the center of the first outbreak
The army camp Fort Riley was not a fine establishment in 1918, and this became the reason for the spreading of the Spanish flu. Housing a total of 26,000 men, the infection in the army camp started with a cook. During the same day, 100 more men were in the infirmary with the bad cold as the cook.
In the end, more than 1100 soldiers caught the flu, and 46 of them died. Post this, the flu transferred to other camps, but the information was kept classified due to war. On the other hand, Wuhan became the center of the COVID-19 outbreak in 2019-20.
