Ron Howard and Cindy Williams in American Graffiti, 1973

American Graffiti was the first breakout project for George Lucas. This 1973 film was based on George’s experiences growing up as a teen in Modesto, California. The plot is based on four friends Curt, Steve, Terry, and John, who cruise the streets of a small town in California while a disc jockey plays a rock’n’roll tune. It is the last day of their summer vacation and also the last night before their adult-lives begin.

This movie’s leads were Ron Howard and Cindy Williams, who later went on to star in Happy Days and Laverne Shirley. In this picture, you can see the pair sitting on the stairs.
