When journalist Lawrence Wright was working on a piece for The New Yorker about identical twins reared apart, he learned of the existence of a controversial “secret study” that had never been published.

It said that identical babies were separated from their twin and sent to different homes for a scientific experiment. What shocked him further was that this was being handled by the same adoption agency – Louise Wise Services. Since the story of the triplets had already gained a lot of media attention, Wright knew that all three brothers had already made contact with each other. However, he went on to meet Bobby and told him everything.
