Klimaschutzaktivisten Greta Thunberg ist das Gesicht der Initiative Fridays for Future. Seit 2018 macht sie mit Schulstreiks auf die Klimakrise aufmerksam. Am Anfang protestierte Thunberg noch allein vor dem Stockholmer Reichstag, mittlerweile folgen ihr weltweit Tausende von Jugendlichen. Darüber hinaus hält die Schwedin häufig Reden bei Klimakonferenzen und trifft sich mit Politikern und anderen Entscheidungsträgern. Das geschätzte Vermögen von Greta Thunberg beträgt 2 Million Euro. Greta Thunberg erhielt einige Auszeichnungen für ihr Engagement für das Klima, welche mit Preisgeldern verbunden waren. Der Preis für Menschlichkeit, den sie im Juli 2020 von der portugiesischen Stiftung Calouste Gulbenkian erhielt, war mit einer Million Euro dotiert.
