What Held Everything Together

The RMS Titanic needed a strong foundation since it was massive, so the makers of the ship had this large crossbeam added to hold the boat together. Photographed above is a man standing next to the beam, and it gives you a good idea of just how massive the beam was.

Creating something like it isn’t easy, and it took more than two years for the Titanic to get built. The whole process of making it was dangerous, and a total of eight workers passed away on the job. A total of 28 workers had severe accidents, while 218 had minor ones.
