Nehemiah Persoff – 101 Years

Nehemiah Persoff is an American actor; he retired in 1999. After his retirement, he pursued painting and specializing in watercolors. Persoff has acted in more than 200 television shows, films, and plays in his 52-year career. Originally born in Jerusalem in 1919, Nehemiah emigrated to the United States in 1929 with his family.

Nehemiah started his acting career in the New York theatre after serving in the army during World War II. During the war, he was a subway technician, maintaining signals. One of his early roles was of the gangster boss Bonaparte in Billy Wilder’s film Some Like It Hot (1959). He also did supporting roles in movies.
