Bettina Böttinger hat im kleinen Kreis und ohne Ankündigung ihre langjährige Freundin Martina Wziontek geheiratet – und zwar an einem ganz besonderen Tag. Die Trauung fand am 60. Geburtstag von Böttinger. Ihr Privatleben teilt sie nur selten mit der Öffentlichkeit, Auftritte mit Martina auf roten Teppichen sind rar. Ungewohnt offen sprach Böttinger jedoch in einer WDR-Dokumentation anlässlich ihres runden Geburtstags über ihre sexuelle Orientierung und verriet, dass sie es im Leben deshalb nicht immer leicht hatte. Sie habe sich damals als Schülerin in ein Mädchen verliebt und sei deswegen fast von der Schule geflogen.
