John Wayne and Pilar Pallete | 25 Years
John Wayne and Pilar Pallete were once Hollywood’s cool couple. While John Wayne was scouting locations for The Alamo, in Tingo María, Peru, he first met Pilar Pallete while she was still married to Richard Weldy. John Wayne was 21 years her senior, yet Pilar Pallete couldn’t help but fall for the handsome “Duke,” a nickname he earned in his career.
John Wayne and Pilar Pallete married in 1954, though in 1973, she started living separately. However, the couple reportedly stayed married until the death of John Wayne from stomach cancer in 1979. They together had three kids, though Pilar Pallete married twice after Wayne’s death.
