Laura Dern

Born to actors Diane Ladd and Bruse Dern, Laura Dern was brought up by her mother and grandmother after her parent’s divorce. Dern began acting in the 1980s and gained popularity between 1985 and 1990. She starred in Mask, Blue Velvet, and Wild at Heart, which helped her gain a longstanding collaboration with director David Lynch. Her performance in Blue Velvet helped her gain public recognition since it is considered as her breakthrough performance.

Laura and her mother Diana became the first mother-daughter duo that was nominated for Academy Awards. The duo appeared in Rambling Rose for which Laura received Best Actress nomination, and Ladd received Best Supporting Actress nomination.
