Na een glansrijke carrière in de politiek droomde ze ervan de eerste vrouwelijke minister-presidente te worden van Nederland. Haar echtgenoot en vier kinderen zouden echter altijd op de eerste plaats komen. Daarom wonen ze nog steeds in Jeruzalem sinds hun geheime huwelijk daar plaatsvond.
De papieren waren echter nog in behandeling in Nederland, dus het paar was niet officieel getrouwd voor de Nederlandse staat. Hun kinderen groeiden op in deze tijd en woonden ook in Jeruzalem, waar zij en hun moeder te kampen hadden met veel discriminatie, jammer genoeg.
